The more that home values crash and jobs are lost, the more we feel the need to huddle in groups. Its a natural response I suppose. It’s warmer and safer in groups. I have found myself trying to help folks out there and sacrifice what we may have as a company to keep the group together. With that said, what is there to learn about this emotion. Isn’t it the same for towns and cities. With all the tax revenue loss, it’s herder to fix roads, pay police, and teachers. It’s harder to fund programs that make our small worlds a better place to live. So here is a thought. You have a marketing budget? Or whats left of one. Why not help the town or city you live in. Sponsor a raise for city employees, update computers for schools, teach some classes to folks in your town that need help finding a new path… One great example is what KFC is doing..
Here’s Colonel Sanders look-alike Bob Thompson helping a repair crew in Louisville “re-fresh” one of the estimated 350 million potholes nationwide. (KFC Corporation photo / March 24, 2009) This is an absolutely brilliant idea. It’s a win win for all.Just don’t eat the asphalt… My point is, call your city, or county and ask. What can we do to help. Trust me, you will get a long list… and the community will thank you for your help with visiting your business.
