Matt Smith, CEO of SmithGifford, tells Capitol Communicator that when he started SmithGifford, “every new employee was required to bring a roll of toilet paper on their first day. Not because we were that bare bones, but because it was a funny reminder that at this agency, there was no “us” and “them” in terms of management, employees or clients. We all worked together and each of us was responsible for what needed to get done, right down to keeping the bathroom stocked with TP.
