Recently, Facebook has increased its empire and teamed up with the popular blogging platform, WordPress. With around 16% of the world’s blogs being hosted, WordPress has adopted a feature that lets users tag and publish posts on friends and follow’s walls. This is big for both companies as its acts as a self promotional partnership. One of the more interesting features is that of adding a ‘WordPress Activity Feed’ for Facebook so people can see a live feed to what their friends are blogging about.
According to sources, 1 out of 7 minutes on the internet is spent on Facebook and 3 out of 4 minutes on social media. That’s crazy once you think about it. Not only do you spend 14% of your ‘online-life’ on Facebook, but now they plan on driving more traffic between them and WordPress, another time consuming website. Here’s another number for you, 40% of your time on Facebook is spent on the news feed, so without a doubt will more references and traffic be driven to WordPress hosted blogs. As of day the new features can only be accessed by Facebook Pages and not individual profiles, but I guess we’ll just have to see where they take us.
